FRAGILE RECOLLECTIONS "Fat Jar"

€2,600.00

During my 45 years in Nazareth (Occupied Palestine), I always felt like being in exile in my own country, no sense of belonging, a stranger in every way, there was always fear of the next incident, spoken words were sensored, acts of resistance were prohibited, pride in being a Palestinian was not allowed.

Moving to my new exile (Amsterdam) in 2016, It become necessarily urgent -for the sake of preserving memory against forgetfulness of my beautiful heritage and homeland- to speak our narratives through my ceramics and design, especially now when my people in our ancestral land are being subjected to a mass ethnic cleansing wiping out heritage, stories, families and many many memories.

The jars are made in an ancient coiling method which was used in pre-historic  ceramics in Palestine, and the memory charms are made of white Porcelain, and decorated with gold luster, This technique was first discovered in Iraq region in the 9th century, created for the royal courts. and quickly spread throughout the Islamic world to Europe.
